WASHINGTON - Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., put himself on the same side as President Donald Trump on accelerating U.S. artificial intelligence and data center buildout, Fox News reported.
Fetterman shared a Bloomberg analysis on the narrowing U.S. lead over China in AI and wrote that AI supremacy and energy dominance underpin national security. "China continues to fuel and benefit from our overreaction," he posted. "I reject the political pandering and hyperbole over data centers or AI doomsdaying."
The comments follow Trump's recent call for governors and local officials to welcome AI data centers, citing construction jobs, large plants, and tax revenue. Fetterman has made the same case for months. In March he opposed a proposed moratorium on new AI data centers and labeled that approach "China First." He also pushed back when Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., discussed pausing AI development, writing that America must lead in AI or live under China's rules.
