Amazon job scam texts promise hundreds a day for short remote work
Scammers are again sending texts that claim to be Amazon recruiters offering hundreds of dollars a day for about 90 minutes of remote work. Cybersecurity reports say the messages are task scams that steer people toward deposits or stolen personal data.
Scam texts posing as Amazon recruiters are circulating again with promises of easy remote pay, according to Fox News CyberGuy reporting and earlier Malwarebytes analysis of the same script family.
One common pitch claims a recruiter named Sophia from Amazon recruiting reviewed a person background and offers high pay for low effort work. Versions promise about 60 to 90 minutes a day for several hundred dollars, sometimes framed as up to 600 dollars a day. Messages often arrive by SMS or email-to-text and push the target to reply to a phone number that is not an Amazon hiring channel.
Malwarebytes described the pattern as a task scam. After a reply, the conversation often moves to WhatsApp, Telegram, or a fake work portal. Victims may be told to complete small online tasks, then deposit money to unlock higher tiers or release supposed wages. Other paths collect names, dates of birth, ID scans, or bank details for identity theft.
Amazon fraud alerts say the company does not recruit through generic webmail accounts or random text blasts that demand off-channel replies. The Federal Trade Commission has warned that unexpected job texts from famous brands are a standard fraud tactic.
Red flags include pay that is far too high for tiny hours, vague job language about optimizing listings, urgency about limited spots, and pressure to move off the first text thread. Legitimate openings appear on Amazon official careers pages and go through normal applications, interviews, and tax forms.
People who already shared bank information should contact their bank, change reused passwords, and report the scam at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Do not send more money to unlock funds that were never real.

What does the scam promise?
Easy remote Amazon work for about an hour a day at hundreds of dollars in daily pay. The numbers are bait, not a real hiring offer.
How does the fraud usually work?
After you reply, scammers move you to another app or fake portal, then push deposits, identity details, or task fees that are never recovered.
Would Amazon really text me a job?
Amazon says it does not hire through random texts from Hotmail-style accounts or mystery phone numbers. Real jobs run through official careers channels.
What should I do with the text?
Do not reply. Delete it. If you already engaged, stop contact, alert your bank if you shared financial data, and report it to the FTC.
