A man once wrote to me, saying he was struggling to find time to pray in the morning. He would wake up late, rush to get ready, and head out the door without a moment to spare. I advised him to start with a simple prayer, like "Lord, I need your help today, guide me and give me wisdom." The Bible says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him" (James 1:5). My friend, make no mistake, God is always willing to listen and help us, no matter how short our prayers may be.
I have found that short prayers can be a powerful way to stay connected with God throughout the day. A counselor I knew would pray, "Lord, give me patience and understanding," before each counseling session. The Bible says, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). Christ is the answer to our needs, and even a brief prayer can bring us closer to Him.
A woman I met in Charlotte once told me that she would pray, "Lord, protect my family and keep them safe," every morning. She said it gave her peace and comfort throughout the day. The Bible says, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18). My friend, take a moment to pray, "Lord, I need your help and guidance, please give me wisdom and patience."
