on. Go at dawn or dusk when fish feed near the surface. The light is soft, the water is cool, and the bite is best. Midday sun and summer sends fish deep and makes them sluggish. 2. Start with a simple rod, a few hooks and live worms. You don't need a tackle box full of lures to catch pan fish or bass. Master one basic setup before you spend a dime on more. 3. Cast near structure, not open water. Fish gather around docks, fallen logs, weed beds, and drop off where they find food and cover. Aim for the edges of those spots and you'll get more bites.
