Christian Dior and the New Look

In 1947 Christian Dior introduced the New Look, with soft shoulders, a tiny waist, and a full, sweeping skirt. It defined women's fashion through the 1950s. After years of wartime rationing, its lavish use of fabric felt luxurious and feminine.
