Rudolph Valentino was the great romantic leading man of silent film and a style icon for men. His slicked-back hair, tailored suits, and exotic costumes set hearts racing across the country. He showed that men could be objects of glamour and desire on screen.
When Valentino died suddenly in 1926 at age 31, an estimated 100,000 people lined the streets of New York for his funeral.
