The Turning Point

In 1997, Shania Twain released Come On Over, which blended country with pop hooks and became the best-selling album ever by a female artist. Songs like "You're Still the One" made her the queen of country-pop crossover.

Hardscrabble Start

Born in Ontario and raised in Timmins, she sang in clubs from age eight to help support her family. After her parents died in a 1987 crash, she helped raise her younger siblings.

Crossover Queen

Working with producer Mutt Lange, she fused country with pop polish. The Woman in Me and Come On Over made her one of the best-selling artists of the 1990s.

Comeback

After health struggles affected her voice, she rebuilt her career with a Las Vegas residency and the 2017 album Now. She continues to tour and record into the 2020s.
