One, take a clear photo of every handwritten card stains and all. The handwriting is part of the gift. A grease spot and a note in the margin tell more than any typed -up version ever could. Two, cook the dish once and write down what the card leaves out. A pinch of this, a handful of that. Pin down the real amounts in the oven time so anyone can make it without you in the room. Three, write a line about where each recipe came from. Whose kitchen, which holiday, who loved it? That little story is what turns a recipe into a keepsake. The next generation will treasure.
