Trick one, water deeply, but less often. Shallow daily watering makes watery, bland fruit. A long soak twice a week pushes roots down and concentrates the sugars. Trick two, ease off the nitrogen once flowers appear. Too much nitrogen grows leaves, not flavor. Switch to a low nitrogen, higher potassium feed. Trick three, leave them on the vine an extra two or three days past red. That final stretch is where the sweetness builds.
