The plane has shielding to withstand an electromagnetic pulse and its airframe is reinforced with ballistic-resistant materials.

The Qatari-gifted jet was first used for presidential travel on July 1 and was meant to 'relieve pressure' on the VC-25A fleet. The plane has security features required for presidential travel, including a full suite of mission communications. However, many details of the Qatari-gifted plane remain unclear, and it lacks the advanced antimissile capabilities of previous Air Force One models.
