Ukraine Launches Large Drone Wave Into Russia; At Least Six Killed

Ukraine launched hundreds of drones across Russia on Sunday, killing at least six people in what Russian officials described as one of Kyiv's largest aerial attacks of the war, CBS News and other outlets reported.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it destroyed 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said about 600 drones were detected headed toward the capital, with roughly a third destroyed over the Moscow region.
An 83-year-old man was killed when a drone hit a private home in the Moscow region, Gov. Andrey Vorobyov said. He also confirmed a fire at a Wildberries logistics warehouse in Podolsk. In southwestern Rostov region, Gov. Yury Slyusar said five people died after more than 150 drones struck three towns, damaging homes and a railway station and sparking a forest fire.
Ukraine has increased long-range drone and missile attacks this year on Russian military industry, energy sites, and large retail depots. Wildberries warehouses have been hit before, destroying merchandise and bringing the war into daily Russian life nearly four and a half years after Moscow's full-scale invasion.
The same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih killed two people and wounded 14, with another death in Sumy. Local officials in Zaporizhzhia said a man and a woman died when their home was hit. Fires in Kyiv wounded six people, Zelenskyy said.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it had targeted a metallurgical plant in Kryvyi Rih and military-industrial sites in Kyiv, including a facility tied to Ukraine's Flamingo missiles. Zelenskyy said Russian ballistic missiles were striking civilian infrastructure wherever they could reach and that air-raid alerts continued as more drones were launched.
