TITLE: A Prayer After Losing Someone You Love SUMMARY: Finding comfort in loss

I remember a time when a woman came to me after one of our crusades, her eyes red from crying. She had lost her husband just a few weeks before, and the pain was still fresh. She asked me, "How can I go on without him?" I took her hand and said, "My friend, I'm so sorry for your loss. The Bible says, "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

In times like these, we need to know that God is near us, that He cares about our pain. I have found in my own life that when we are hurting, it's hard to see beyond the sorrow. But the Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). This verse reminds us that God's love is bigger than our pain, and that He wants to give us eternal life.

A man wrote to me once, telling me about the loss of his child. He said, "I feel like a part of me has been torn away." I understood his pain, and I wanted him to know that he was not alone. The Bible says, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). Make no mistake, my friend, God is the comforter, and He is the only one who can truly heal our broken hearts.

I have seen many people struggle with grief, and I have seen how it can consume them. But I have also seen how God can take that grief and turn it into something beautiful. The Bible says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). This verse reminds us that God is sovereign, and that He can take even the hardest things and use them for our good.

Christ is the answer to our pain, my friend. He is the one who can heal our broken hearts and give us hope for the future. I have found in my own life that when I am hurting, the best thing I can do is turn to Him. The Bible says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

My friend, if you are hurting today, I want you to know that you are not alone. God is with you, and He cares about your pain. He wants to comfort you and give you rest.

Dear God, I come to you in my pain, and I ask that you would comfort me. Help me to see your love and your presence in my life, even in the midst of sorrow. I pray that you would give me rest and peace, and that you would help me to trust in you. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.
