Jumanji: Open World video game gets first trailer

Wednesday, July 29, 2026 · 1 sources

Sony Pictures and publisher Outright Games released the debut trailer for an open-world Jumanji video game. The title lets players explore a digital version of the film's jungle setting.

The first trailer for Jumanji: Open World dropped Tuesday, showing players dropped into a massive digital jungle filled with dangers from the hit movies.

Players control one of four characters modeled after the film's stars. They run, jump, climb and fight their way through ruins, rivers and thick forest while dodging rhinos, hippos, snakes and other threats. The trailer shows quick cuts of vehicle chases, rock climbing and battles with giant creatures.

The game is set inside the Jumanji video game world from the films. A narrator repeats the classic line, "The game thinks we're part of it now," as on-screen text warns that players must finish the game or be trapped forever.

Outright Games is developing the title for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC. It is scheduled to launch later this year. The studio has made other family-friendly games based on movies including The Addams Family and Hotel Transylvania.

The trailer mixes footage that looks like it was shot on an old camcorder with modern 3D gameplay. It ends with one character saying, "I'm beginning to suspect we are not in Jumanji."

The Jumanji franchise began as a 1981 children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. The 1995 movie starred Robin Williams. Two newer films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017 and Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019, brought in more than $1.5 billion at the global box office. Those movies starred Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.

The new game appears aimed at the same family audience. It will let up to four people play together, according to a short description released with the trailer. Exact details on story, modes and price have not been announced.
