Rep. Max Miller requests House Ethics investigation into conduct

Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) announced Tuesday he will file paperwork requesting an ethics investigation into his own conduct. The move follows a series of allegations involving his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, which he denies.

The House Committee on Ethics confirmed Tuesday it is reviewing allegations that Miller may have engaged in domestic violence, abuse, or illegal drug use. Miller said in a post on X that he has nothing to hide and looks forward to his colleagues reviewing the documents.

The request for a probe comes after a lawyer for Moreno demanded Miller explain why a sensitive photo of their two-year-old daughter was included in a document dump shared Sunday. Attorney Subodh Chandra wrote in a letter that the photo could be considered child sexual abuse material because the child’s genitals appeared visible.

The documents also named the daughter and listed the home address for Moreno and the child. Aaron Minc, an attorney for Miller, apologized for the oversight in a statement provided to Axios. He said he was responsible for ensuring sensitive information was redacted and deeply regretted the mistake.

Miller has sued Moreno for defamation regarding her abuse claims and has denied threatening her. He stated in a Sunday livestream that he will not drop out of his reelection race. Sen. Bernie Moreno, the ex-wife's father, told reporters Tuesday that his daughter lives in constant fear of Miller.

President Donald Trump called Miller on Monday to express doubt about his candidacy, according to reports, but has not called for him to exit the race. In a separate legal matter, lawyers for former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham filed a motion for a temporary restraining order to block Miller from violating a previous settlement.
